Match: Barcelona vs Juventus
Date: July 26, 2022
Stadium: Cotton Bowl, Dallas (United States)
Competition: Friendly
Kickoff time: 19:30 (UTC/GMT-5, local time)

After topping rivals Real Madrid in an El Clasico showdown in Las Vegas, Barcelona now travel south to Dallas for a meeting with Juventus at the Cotton Bowl.

The stadium’s capacity of 92,000 fans should be put to the test as the two European giants face off in a preseason friendly that comes a little over two weeks from their first official league matches.

Both teams are unveiling new players on the pitch in the United States, as Robert Lewandowski made his Barcelona debut over the weekend while Juventus put Angel Di Maria on display. The Italian side will now hope that new center back Bremer can take the field in a Bianconeri shirt for the first time in Dallas.

While Premier League clubs are nearing a conclusion to their preseason tours, these two teams are still in the midst of ramping up for their seasons, which start slightly later than the English top flight. Each side has two more preseason friendlies to contest after the Texas matchup.

Barcelona vs. Juventus team news & lineups

Barcelona’s summer transfer acquisitions have all done well to hit the ground running, as Robert Lewandowski was the latest to make his club debut with a solid first-half showing against Real Madrid in Las Vegas on Saturday. He joins Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, and Raphinha as new Barcelona arrivals to take the field in preseason, with Ousmane Dembele also returning to the fold with his new contract.

All should be available for the match against Juventus, with manager Xavi also looking to work Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay into the attacking force that is suddenly overflowing with talent. Ferran Torres is also in play, yet to make his preseason debut due to a foot injury, but he reportedly could have played against Real Madrid if Xavi hadn’t decided to play it safe in preseason.

American international Sergino Dest should also see time on the field, with Barcelona lacking options at right back. It was natural center back Ronald Araujo who played the first hour against Real Madrid there before Dest came in off the bench.

Barcelona last starting lineup (4-3-3): Ter Stegen (GK) — Araujo, Christensen, Eric, Alba — Gavi, Busquets, Pedri — Raphinha, Lewandowski, Fati.

Juventus are still building their key players up to full fitness, and could see an influx of star talent set to make their first important showings of the preseason.

Dusan Vlahovic did not play against Chivas Guadalajara last time out, but should be set to see the field against Barcelona. American international Weston McKennie also didn’t play, but will look to get time as he competes for minutes in a crowded midfield that now loses newly arrived Paul Pogba to a right meniscus injury. The Frenchman will not be traveling in Dallas.

Federico Chiesa is still recovering from an ACL tear and reportedly needs at least another month before returning. Young Brazilian striker Kaio Jorge is also recovering from a serious knee injury and will see his season’s start seriously delayed.

Juventus last starting lineup (4-3-3): Szczesny (GK) — Cuadrado, Danilo, Gatti, Sandro — Pogba, Locatelli, Fagioli — Di Maria — Graca, Kean.
